Red Arrows Class - Year 1

Welcome to Red Arrows! We are a fantastic group of Year 1 children, and we are taught by Mrs Smith. Keep checking back for updates of learning we are doing. 

Summer Term 1

This term our PE sessions are on a Monday and Thursday so please come to school dressed in your PE kit.

New reading books and phonics homework will be sent out on a Friday.

Knowledge Overview:

 The knowledge overview will give you more details about our learning this term. 

English 

This term we will focus on writing narratives based around the story, 'Jack and the Beanstalk'.  We will read several versions of the story so that the children experience alternative plots and characters.  Children will write and sequence sentences to create their own narratives. 

Maths 

We will begin the term with position and direction.  We will then learn about place value within 100, counting forwards and backwards, partitioning, comparing and ordering numbers and finding 1 more and 1 less using the 100 square to help us. Towards the end of term we will learn about money and time.

DT

This term we will be focusing on textiles.  Children will be creating a piece for the Sturton Show based on ‘Respect’.  Children will use sewing techniques to add detail to their piece by learning how to sew a button onto fabric.
